The expectations of users of sports suspensions are extremely diverse. Many want to change the appearance and behavior of their car on the road, but each in a different way. This is what thecoilover suspensionsare for, allowing you to adjust the height of the car to your liking. But what to do when such differentiation is still not enough?
New options for every type of taste
Proper operation of the suspension is based on the appropriate selection of its components, including, in particular, springs. Our goal is to optimize their parameters so that the MTS Technik coilover suspensions are stiff and at the same time maintain the noticeable dose ofcomfort. This is what designing a suspension for everyday use on the street is all about. This arrangement works in the vast majority of cases.Users of cars with MTS Technik suspensions feel satisfied with both their behavior on the road and the amount of lowering. However, we know that there are drivers who expect something more. The scale moves a little further. And this applies to two very extreme cases.
MTS Technik coilover suspensions, Street series
MTS Technik coils, which are classified in the Street category, are nothing more than sets in the previously known specification.Eibach springswith the parameters calculated by our designers meet the above-described guidelines regarding the compromise between comfort andsport.
Graphical representation of the suspension characteristics – Street series
MTS Technik coilover suspensions, Sport series
However, there are users who are not interested in any compromises. In the course of striving to fit the wheel with the wheel arch as perfectly as possible, they are looking for drastic lowering, giving spectacular effects. The car in such a setup catches the eye and drives very stiffly. The needs of such users are to be met by the newly introduced Sport series, which is designed to make the most of the concept of lowering and stiffness. This factor, in turn, has a positive effect on the behavior of the car during very dynamic driving, significantly reducing undesirable lateral tilt.Driving a car on such a suspension is definitely more reliable and simply becomes a pleasure. The springs in such tuned sets have a much higher coefficient of hardness and are often lower than those used in the Street series suspensions. One thing, however, remains unchanged. They still come from the Eibach factory.

MTS Technik coilover suspensions, Comfort series
There is also the other end of the scale in the wide range of car users. These are people for whom the car is also not just a means of movement. They also want to change something, improve it. However, in a less spectacular way. Lower? Absolutely, but rather subtly. Hardness? Not necessarily. In this field, I am satisfied with the behavior of the serial suspension. – this is is a profile of a person who, in theory, should not even look at the coilover suspension offer. We have already proved with our existing products that the coilover suspension does not have to be synonymous with the proverbial “concrete”. For people who highly value the issue of comfort, after replacing the suspension, we have distinguished the Comfort series. Here, too, everything is based on carefully selected springs. Their role remains unchanged throughout the coilover suspension assembly. Only her job changes. Rather than lowering as much as possible, the priority is to maximize comfort and suppress any blemishes on the road in the form of e.g manholes.

The two separate series of suspensions described above, with very different characteristics, will be available for most of the sets from our offer. And as it is now with the current Street series, the other two will successively obtainTÜV certification.

MODE Podium Finish Bathurst 2022 | MODE x CMA / Carr Motorsport BMW M3 F80
Brad Carr and Tim Slade lead the 2022 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour in the MODE x Car Mods Australia BMW F80 M3, but the pair had a battle on their hands with the CHE Racing Team M2 Competition.
In the end 63-entries took to the start of the sixth Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour led by the BMW M4 of Karl Begg, David Russell and Nash Morris from pole.
Strong in numbers, BMW has had mixed fortunes in the race so far as high profile teams including the pole-sitting Begg Motorsport (BTuned) M4 as well as the Anthony Soole, Adam Burgess (Advan Performance) and Anton De Pasquale example went into limp mode during the first hour.
Following a monumental charge, the CHE Racing Team BMW M2 Competition driven by Tom Sargent was in contention after climbing more than 50 positions and in all 62 when he took the lead later in the second hour.
A previous leader of the event, the Ellery family BMW M4 shared by Steve, plus sons Dalton and Tristan dropped out of the event as the second hour concluded, with the CHE Racing Team M2 entering the third in the lead.
Further retirements hit A1 where the Mercedes AMG A45 spearheaded by Will Brown stopped with diff problems, the Lachlan Gibbons Lancer Evo X experienced mechanical failure and the Mitsubishi of Cameron Crick/Dean Campbell dropped out too.
The fourth safety car came out and the Slade MODE x CMA M3 was able to take the lead after pitting earlier than the CHE Racing Team M2.
But in the lead remained Sargent/Hill by 12s from Slade/Carr after a drive through for the latter for a pit procedure infringement.
The team raced their way into the top five well before their first of six pit stops and then led a chunk of the running throughout the race – one that would ultimately run 130 laps, the second most of all time.
Late race strategy handed the lead to the #8 Car Mods Australia BMW driven by Slade and Bradley Carr heading into the race’s final 45 minutes, with the pair 50-seconds ahead of the Hill / Sargent BMW.
However, a late Safety Car and a call to put two new right-side MRF Tyres on the chasing car Hill / Sargent car proved the difference.
Rattling off a series of new 6-hour lap records, Hill Scythed Slade’s 10-second lead following the Safety Car to zero following the restart before the pair engaged in a Bathurst battle for the ages.
Despite the chasing car enjoying a tyre advantage, Slade defended valiantly for several laps as the race closed to the final 20 minutes.
It took a massive move at Brock’s Skyline for Hill to eventually pass Slade, the pair coming off the hill side-by-side before the former finally wrestled the lead away from the latter.
The race finished in that order: Hill powering home to claim a remarkable victory from 61ston the grid in a race anchored by Sargent’s remarkable drive through the field in the opening stages.
It is thought to be the furthest back any Bathurst endurance race winner has started to claim one of the Bathurst majors in the circuit’s 84-year history.
Despite losing the lead within the final half hour of the race, Slade and Carr finished second to complete an impressive comeback performance after being denied a victory twelve months ago.
Shane Smollen, Rob Rubis and Nick Percat finished third, successfully backing up their 2021 victory with a strong podium finish this year.
Percat powered the car home, surviving several close calls in his closing stints to grab the final step on the podium and complete a second BMW 1-2-3 sweep of the trophies.
There was late heartbreak for the Drew, Aaren and Wayne Russ. ell BMW, who were within sight of a top three finish before their car ran out of fuel prior to their final stop – coasting into the lane and dropping a lap to ultimately finish fifth.
The Steven, Dalton and Tristan Ellery BMW ran strongly early before losing two laps and finishing sixth, while seventh went the way of the Ben and Michael Kavich Yellow / Race for a Cure BMW M2.

Tools needed:
2-post automotive lift
¾ inch breaker bar and socket for crank bolt (S55 breakaway torque for crank bolt is over 440 ft/lbs torque!)
Torque wrench capable of OEM crank bolt torque
Crank locking tool
BMW Timing tools
Crank seal/front seal install tools
Engine support cradle
Small 3/8" drill
Tap Magic or other heavy oil for drilling
You will also need the following OEM parts to complete the job at the minimum:
Valve cover gasket set
Front crank seal
(2) Front cover seals
(2) Vanos bolts
Oil pan bolts
Oil pan gasket
BMW Coolant
Engine oil
The install process requires you to follow the factory disassembly process until the timing gear, oil pump gear, and crank hub are removed. You will also need to remove the oil pan prior to drilling the snout of the crank. We recommend taking the valve cover off before suspending the engine to drop the front subframe and oil pan.
The vanos components, timing chain and cassette is fully removed, or at least lifted out of the way. The oil pump chain and cassette can remain installed, with the chain tucked out of the way. Remove the crank seal for access to installing the drill fixture and shortened bolt. Use caution to not damage the area where the crank seal sits. The rotation/position of the two holes that you will be drilling is not critical, however it is important that the fixture does not move once you have drilled any of the holes.
**** Please check proper fitment of the drill fixture in the end of the crankshaft. S55 fitment has been very snug. There has been a N54 that had some minimal play which can result in the dowel holes not getting drilled on-center. This can be shimmed using layers of foil wrapped around the drill template as needed. If there are any concerns please contact us prior to drilling ****
**** You need to make sure the holes are deep enough to have the dowel pins fit in the crank snout without bottoming out **** We suggest measuring the exposed length of the dowel pins (should be close to .120"). Insert the drill bit inside the install tool so that it protrudes slightly further than the dowel length, putting some tape or a sharpie mark on the drill bit to provide a suggested stop point. Do this prior to installing the drill fixture on the crankshaft.
Tighten the drill fixture with the supplied short bolt to the crank snout. The drill bit supplied is a carbide straight flute bit. It is very hard, and also fairly brittle. It requires good lubrication, slow to moderate speed, and mild pressure. If you side load it, it will snap. Take your time, use lots of lube, and it should go smoothly. We suggest using tap magic, gear oil, or motor oil. In the case of failure, the bits are readily available at Mcmaster Carr. The good news is they typically just fracture and can be removed with a small pick.
Once four holes are drilled, carefully brake clean/blow out the holes with the drill fixture still installed. This can be done while holding a shop vac in the vicinity of the chips. Try not to blow any chips upwards as you do not want to get debris in the assembled top end of the motor. Make sure you wipe any chips or debris that could accumulate at the inside of the front of the motor on the passenger side. There is an inner lip that could accumulate debris. Wipe that portion with a rag and check with your finger for debris. If it is good, you are ready to reinstall per factory install process.
Tightening procedure: We recommend cleaning the inside threads of the crank and the crank bolt itself, and applying oil to the threads and bottom of the bolt head prior to assembly. We hold the crank hub with a tool from the front of the motor while tightening the crank bolt instead of holding the crank with a flywheel locking tool. This eliminates the possibility of damaging the dowel pins during the torque procedure, and it stops you from twisting the entire crank during the install process. We still pin the flywheel with the locking tool at the same time. S55 and N55 bolt torque - 100Nm initial torque plus 270 degrees. N54 Bolt torque - 100Nm initial torque plus 360 degrees.
This page serves as a guide to aide in the installation of the crank hub. MODE Auto Concepts or SSR Performance accepts no liability in the incorrect use or improper installation of the crank hub or use of these instructions. Please only have a skilled workshop / technician install this product. There is no margin for error during this complex install.

Eventuri Intakes, what makes them different?
With so many aftermarket intakes available, the natural question arises:
“So what’s so special about the Eventuri Intakes?”
There are two main elements in explaining the answer to what sets us apart from the rest:
The Patented Eventuri filter housing design
Eventuri Bespoke Filters
Eventuri emphasis on creating a “Complete Solution”
The Patented Eventuri Filter Housing
Even at first glance the Eventuri intake looks very different to many other aftermarket intakes. Unlike the majority of intakes, which use the same cone filter/tube/heat shield configuration, the Eventuri design is fundamentally different and has been Patented.
AFTERMARKET INTAKE SYSTEMS
Most aftermarket intakes use a cone filter mated to an inlet tube with some type of heat shielding. In this configuration airflow must negotiate a path from the large diameter at the base of the filter through to the smaller diameter of the inlet tube in a relatively short distance. There is usually a velocity stack at the base of the filter to help with the transition, however the stack is usually small. This sudden transition in geometry is detrimental for flow. The result is a loss of throttle response and performance gains are usually limited over the OEM intake system. The diagram below shows a typical aftermarket intake using a cone filter secured to an engine inlet tube. The filter uses a standard velocity stack, which has been highlighted in yellow.
THE EVENTURI INTAKE SYSTEM
The Eventuri is a new type of intake design, which has been granted a patent. Eventuri use a cone filter – but here it is inverted and decoupled from the inlet tube. By removing the direct connection between the filter and the inlet tube, the filter is no longer dictating the shape of the airflow. This is now being done by the carbon housing, which is designed to smoothly guide the air into the inlet tube without a sudden change in geometry. This means that they keep laminar conditions throughout the intake, which is a lot more efficient. Furthermore, the funnel-shaped housing invokes the Venturi effect where the smooth reduction in cross-sectional area along the length of the housing causes the airflow to increase in velocity. Essentially the entire housing acts as a large velocity stack. On the road this translates to more power with a smoother delivery as well as sharper throttle response since the airflow is not inhibited by abrupt geometry changes and so is more likely to remain laminar. The diagram below shows an Eventuri intake system using a reverse mounted filter inside an Eventuri housing. The large velocity stack area is highlighted in yellow.
Eventuri Bespoke Filters
To compliment Eventuri's unique filter housings they designed the filters specifically for this reverse mounted configuration in order to provide the optimum airflow through the system. Detailed descriptions of the filters can be seen in the filter section.
The Complete Solution
The final element to the Eventuri design – which is as important, is the emphasis on creating a complete solution. Eventuri dedicate a lot of design effort on ensuring the filter housings are provided with ambient air in the most efficient way possible. Allowing the filters to draw in heated air from the engine bay defeats the objective and in many cases is the cause of an actual loss in power over the stock system once the engine bay is heat soaked. Simply using heat shields is not enough – there must also be a method of channeling cold air into the intake. This is where we have seen some companies use “scoops” but on closer inspection are usually very flat and almost perpendicular to the oncoming air. Not the ideal solution for trying to redirect air at high speeds! The Eventuri scoop designs have, where possible a curved face for as much of the exposed area as possible in order to smoothly redirect incoming air to the filters. In doing so they ensure that engine bay heat is displaced and so intake air temperatures are kept as low as possible.
From scoop to duct to housing to inlet tubing – by utilising organic shapes, Eventuri invest a great deal of time and effort in providing a smooth path for the airflow to follow. Hence ensuring maximum efficiency of the system.
On The Road
With a smooth inlet track to the MAF tube/Engine inlet and by ensuring they have an effective cold air supply to the filters, the resultant performance increases translate to an enhanced driving experience:
Throttle response is sharper as air speeds in the inlet track are maintained by the Venturi effect.
Low/mid range torque is increased which improves general drivability. The car feels more aggressive and eager to drive.
Top end power is increased as the engine is allowed to draw in cold air with less restriction.
Couple the performance increase with a more audible and sonorous induction sound and the overall driving experience is much more involving and enjoyable.

Recently MODE Auto Concepts and Car Mods Australia joined forces to take on the Bathurst 6-Hour at Mount Panorama here in Australia.
The MODE x CMA BMW M3 put up a good fight and led the race for a large portion of it, unfortunately after a few tyre failures the MODE x CMA F80 M3 driven by Bradley Carr and Tim Slade just missed out on a podium finish and bagged 4th place outright only 1.207s behind the best set by his Supercars rival.
As for the podium it was an all BMW M4 finish, with Shane van Gisbergen scoring victory with Shane Smollen and Rob Rubis, Tim Leahey and Beric Lynton finishing second and Grant Sherrin and David Russell home third.
Shane van Gisbergen has also written himself into the record books, scoring victory with Shane Smollen and Rob Rubis in the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour at Mount Panorama.
The victory for van Gisbergen in the Prestige Connex BMW M4 makes him only the second driver in history to win the Bathurst’s three iconic endurance events – the Bathurst 1000, 12 Hour and now the 6 Hour production car race.
All in all we had a great event, the car looked amazing with MODE x CMA Livery and we got hours and hours of live coverage on Australian National Television Channel 7 throughout the weekend.
The MODE Auto Concepts x Car Mods Australia BMW M3 F80 has been fitted up with a range of performance upgrades, including an Exon gloss black front splitter and Exon carbon fiber trunk lip splitter, a MODE Design GTS hood is also yet to be fitted.

https://modeautoconcepts.com/blogs/news/what-suspension-should-i-fit-to-my-bmw-m3-f80-or-m4-f82-h-and-r-eibach-kw-bilstein-springs-lowering-suspension-australia2020-10-15T11:24:26+10:002021-08-21T15:14:01+10:004 ways to Lower Your BMW M. Don't fit lowering springs to your BMW M2, M3 or M4 until you read this!Mode AutoSo you're thinking of lowering your BMW M2, M3 or M4 but aren't sure where to start?
We hope this article will help you make the right decision on which springs will suit you, your vehicle, your driveway and your driving type the most.
Tip: NVH = Noise, Vibration & Harshness.
1. Non-Adjustable Springs:
Eibach Pro Kit. Eibach is a World leader when it comes to spring engineering & manufacturing, with Formula 1, WRC, Le Mans and many other titles under their belt it safe to say they probably understand springs better than anyone else.
We think their Pro Kit demonstrates this impeccably, with an instantly clear and noticeable improvement in ride quality, comfort and performance we think this aftermarket lowering spring option rides better and feels better than OEM in every single way.
Notes: Slightly lower than stock for the discerning M car owner, Better Performance & Ride Quality. Level Ride Front to Rear. NVH = Less than stock (From our internal testing).
H&R Sport. World famous for street car lowering springs, H&R offers a high quality product with a ride height that most people will love the look of. Slightly lower than Eibach's selection of lowering springs H&R hits the mark for those that want a non-adjustable option that sits that little bit lower.
Notes: Lower than Eibach, Stiffer than OEM and Eibach, Level Ride Front to Rear. NVH = slightly higher than stock due to firmer nature of spring.
H&R Super Sport.
Notes: Firmer spring designed by H&R for those doing the odd track day. Front sits lower and creates a 'raked' look to improve turning but maybe not to our aesthetic taste. NVH = Higher than H&R Sport.
2. Adjustable Springs:
H&R VTF/VSS (Adjustable Springs). Offers decent all-round performance for those that don't want to fully commit to a complete coilover replacement, H&R is known to achieve quite a low ride height and will provide the lowest possible ride on factory dampers.
Due to the adjustable height design of the H&R VTF/VSS the spring is mounted on an adjustable collar rather than a rubber spring mount like factory. This will cause a little bit higher NVH than a non-adjustable spring, and a little less than a full replacement coilover with camber tops. If you're looking for a more factory like ride when it comes to noises and vibration through the chassis we do suggest the Eibach or H&R Sport Springs.
Note: Important to adjust as per H&R recommendation with a lowered height range compared to factory, if adjusted back to stock height can be quite stiff and bumpy. (As not intended for this use) Sport+ will be firmer than factory so you may want to change your favourite M Dynamic Drive settings to Sport or Comfort.
KW HAS. KW H.A.S. (Height Adjustable Springs) are actually manufactured by Eibach to KW strict specifications and tolerances, this means you know you'll be getting all of that winning pedigree and spring engineering know how all within an adjustable kit with fantastic ride quality and superior performance.
We think KW HAS achieves a perfectly low ride height suitable for the street, ride quality is improved both on the straight and in corners due to the KW Spring design. NVH level may be just slightly higher than stock but not noticeable to most. You may want to switch your dynamic damper settings down a notch From Sport+ to Sport as the new springs will do the heavy work through the corners for you!
Adjustable Springs Conclusion: Adjustable kits may be considered by some to add unnecessary parts which increase harshness and noise. If you do not need to adjust or fine tune the ride height of your M2, M3 or M4 it may be best to go with a Non-Adjustable option.
3. Coilovers:
For the Street we say go with KW DDC Plug 'n' Play or if you're also hitting the odd track day V3’s with DDC Deletes. Our team has agreed not go with DDC for track use as they will not excel in this area due to a KW factory fitted softer spring and a lack of damper and rebound control.
If you're hitting the track more than twice a year consider Ohlins or KW V4’s / KW Clubsports.
Remember camber tops and billet mounts are going to significantly increase NVH over rubber but rubber isn’t suitable for heavy track use as it will deteriorate prematurely.
4. Deep Coilovers:
If you want your M car very low none of the above options are really suitable as you will lose too much bump travel in the shock absorber.
Gepfeffert by KW Suspension build "Deep" or "Ultra Low" coilovers to suit customers that want to go that extra inch or two lower.
Specifically engineered to operate at a lower ride height this type of suspension is going to have equal ride quality and equivalent comfort to KW's regular V1, V2, V3, V4 & Clubsport coil-overs without any compromise.
However, this type of suspension is not suitable for those that want to adjust back to standard ride height as they are simple to deep to do so.
Final note: Each spring kit is made for a different consumer; We think you should buy what suits the driving you’re actually going to be doing, not what looks best in a photo on the gram... Unless of of course your build is for the gram, then go with that!

The closing scene of Marvel Avengers 'End Game' had 13 of everyones favourite Avengers battling it out in an absolutely epic war scene, that's thanks to 13 of the World's leading visual effects companies producing one of the most speculator VFX scenes we've probably ever seen on film.
But, this post isn't about 'End Game'.... It's about 'N Game'... Just one Brisbane guy named Daniel and his Hyundai I30N. None of your favourite Marvel Characters, No Visual Effects.
After selling his Ford Focus XR5 and leaving the UK about 6 years ago Dan set out to fulfil his empty hot hatch loving heart with something new and exciting. Upon release Dan realised the I30N perfectly fit the description and was swiftly acquired.
Above:Daniel's Focus XR5 / ST in the UK
Daniel told us the N was never intended to be modified as much as his previous cars, he said "as soon as I had it in the garage at home I decided to gloss black all the cheap looking texture parts and its just escalated from there."
"I knew I wanted the N to be unique and a one of a kind, so a set of Rohana Rc7's was a must, with a custom offset even though I was constantly told they wouldn't fit and I couldn't go any lower than the 35mm on springs. Im always keen to push boundaries and be the first to do things."
The exhaust was also custom made to suit with 4" quad tips, but they didn't fit into the rear bumper cutouts so Dan sunk 15 hours into cutting up the rear valance, plastic welding it all back together and painting it to look factory!
Once the FLOW Designs kit arrived further modification was required to make the parts work with the larger tips and custom rear bumper.
Next was the suspension, Dan contacted us and said he was keen to slam his I30N, he mentioned he had seen the Gepfeffert by KW Suspension we offer and wanted to order a set. Together we worked out all the details to ensure his suspension was built just right for him and allow the perfect drop.
Andy at Gepfeffert quickly got to work to assemble the perfect suspension for Dan's Hyundai I30 N and they were shipped off to Australia, a few emails from excited Dan later and the kit arrived, ready to fit.
Let's just say that in Germany the roads are a little different to here in Australia and the Bavarian guys like to go even lower with inset wheels. It's kinda like "Sex Spec" but done nicely with really expensive BBS or OZ Racing Wheels.
Here at MODE we build the Gepfeffert Suspension to suit Ozzy roads, driveways and drivers. (Unless you really want the German Ultra-Deep-Spec, we can do that too!)
Above: Hyundai I30N in Germany built by Gepfeffert
Dan opted for a fully adjustable V2 kit with camber tops included to achieve both the ride height and camber required to fit massive Rohana 19x9.5 +38 wheels under the fenders.
A day or so later, 65mm of drop (Yep, almost twice the amount of drop as a spring set) and a few other finishing touches Dan would like to introduce to the Universe... 'N GAME'.

https://modeautoconcepts.com/blogs/news/3-reasons-why-you-need-a-new-chargepipe-for-your-bmw-today-stock-or-modified2020-07-01T13:43:00+10:002020-10-15T09:50:33+10:003 Reasons why you need a new Chargepipe for your BMW Today! (Stock or Modified) - The "Achilles' Heel" of the Modern BMWMode Auto
So you've heard online, on the forum, on facebook, in the group, on the news, on the back of the last roll of toiler paper, at the end of a movie, at the bottom of your cereal box, in your coffee mug, on the radio, in the sky and everywhere else that you need a Charge Pipe for your BMW 1-Series, 2-Series, 3-Series, 4-Series, 5-Series, 6-Series, M2, M3, M4 or M5 & M6 but you still aren't sure if you really do?
An Achilles' heel or Achilles heel is a weakness in spite of overall strength, which can lead to downfall. We're back again to take a look at this trivial or maybe not so trivial topic... The BMW Plastic Chargepipe!
1. Your Car is Over 3 Years Old or Out of Factory Warranty.
The first one really is a no-brainer... If your vehicle is under factory warranty, BMW is going to replace factory parts that fail, but if it's not under warranty you bet they are going to charge you much more for a genuine plastic charge pipe that will fail again and again than what an aftermarket alloy chargepipe costs.
A good quality Chargepipe Kit should be made of Aluminium and include a New Circlip, all hardware and parts required for installation.
2. Your Car is Modified or You Drive it like it's Modified!
Horsepower creates heat and modified turbocharged BMW's create additional boost, combine the two and you will more than likely hear a very loud "Pop" on full throttle. Yep, that's your charge pipe, now your car is in limp mode and you've lost that valuable circlip BMW and most aftermarket companies are probably going to charge you extra for!
If the car isn't driving after the charge pipe blows or breaks and you don't have roadside assist you risk damage to your turbo and will have to cop a hefty tow truck fee to get the vehicle back to a workshop, if it happens after hours then it could cost even more!
Aluminum Chargepipes can be custom painted in various colours
2. You Live in Australia or anywhere else that gets Hot AF!
In countries like Australia it gets hot, especially in summer! Beneath the bonnet it gets really hot, components go from cold to hot and back to cold very quickly. If they are made of plastic like BMW Chargepipes that quickly leads to brittlenes, on vehicles such as the E82 135i and E92 335i with N54 and N55 engine we actually see more standard cars come in with broken Charge Pipes than we do modified!
The below image is a chargepipe removed from a factory N54 vehicle, without any mods.

Macken literally hit us up in the DM's on insta back in 2019. It was right when he first picked up his F80 M3, bone stock.
To be honest we weren't sure exactly what he had planned for the car but he told us he was 100% certain he wanted our MODE Air+ Front Mounted Intake Kit.
Together we decided on the Mineral White Metallic (A96) finish to perfectly match the exterior and keep that really clean look Macken was after. We got to work, laid down the Glasurit Genuine BMW finish with custom black MODE logo and here's the result.
Macken has continued on with this build adding Air Lift Performance Air Suspension and a set of incredible SSR Koenig 3-Piece Wheels measuring 20x10 and 20x11.
We've really enjoyed being part of the build and thank Macken for choosing MODE.

https://modeautoconcepts.com/blogs/news/5-things-to-consider-before-buying-wheel-spacers-for-your-european-vehicle2019-04-19T12:05:00+10:002023-05-02T18:23:58+10:005 Things to Consider Before Buying Wheel Spacers For Your European VehicleMode Auto
So you're thinking of fitting wheel spacers to your car but not sure where to start?
Maybe you’ve asked around, maybe some random, self-proclaimed 'expert' from the "BMW M Owners" group on facebook or even a workshop or the dealership have told you spacers are no good? Maybe you've even seen two people argue over the fact they are good or bad?
This is one topic that has been debated about for as long as anyone into cars can remember, and to be deadly honest it's for good reason. Like many inventions and products there can be the good stuff and there can be the bad stuff.
What makes a good wheel spacer and what makes a bad wheel spacer? Why does one of the most prestigious and well respected, Motorsport championship winning (LeMans 24 Hour, GT3, etc.) automotive companies in the World, Porsche offer Genuine OEM Wheel Spacers but then someone else from the forum might not suggest running them?
Image above: Genuine Porsche Wheel Spacer Kit
We're here to talk about wheel spacers, are they good or are they bad, to help you identify the right wheel spacers for your car, (If any at all) and what to look out for before purchasing.
1. Material = Quality
When it comes to metals, particularly alloys used in automotive products, how the alloys are produced and formed is extremely important. You have probably heard the terms; Cast, Billet and Forged, maybe numbers like 6061-T6, 7075-T6... What does all this really mean?
Metallurgists agree that a forged or billet piece of aluminum is stronger than cast. The reason being is how that piece is formed. Forging is a manufacturing process where a metal is pressed or forged into great strength. Casting on the other hand involves heating a metal beyond its melting temperature until it is molten and pouring it into a mold, once it solidifies the piece has become cast. If we could put a cross section of these metals under a microscope we would see two very different things, the crystalline structure of the forged piece having an extremely uniform, tight and perfect molecular grain, whereas the cast piece would have large, uneven molecules with no exact pattern. What this translates to is strength. The forged piece being compressed under such extreme force has an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio, meaning it is very light yet very, very strong. The cast piece has a less uniform crystalline structure which means there isn’t as much power in the support it can provide leaving it with a much lower strength-to-weight ratio and more likely to crack or snap under force. It also means no two casting are the same, not even close, creating quality and safety issues when used in certain automotive components.
The numbers 6061-T6 and 7075-T6 refers to the material content in the forged billet or stock, being made up of aluminum, zinc, magnesium, silicon, etc. this also translates to strength and determines the correct use for the material. The T6 part of the indicator refers to the fact the material is thermally treated tempered metal. Both are great alloys used in many applications, 6061 mainly in industrial and 7075 mainly in aerospace. The 7075-T6 has around twice the tensile and shear strength of 6061-T6 making it much stronger and more durable for CNC machined parts that require high strength, especially when very thin, say like a 3mm wheel spacers. Whereas the 6061-T6 has a much higher magnesium content making it not as strong but much more suitable for products that require welding. Both are used in automotive engineering and both are used in wheel spacers.
2. Hub Centric; ‘Hub Centered’
Once a material has been chosen a wheel spacer then needs to be CNC machined to suit the hub of a specific vehicle, some very cheap cast wheel spacers actually have the bore and PCD (bolt pattern and size) in the mold, this is a big no-no. The bore and PCD must be machined to exact and precise tolerances to allow the wheel spacers to perfectly slide onto and off from the hub. We call it the “Goldilocks Effect”, not too tight and not too loose, just right.
Once the spacer has the inner (hub bore), outer (hub diameter) and PCD machined to suit a vehicle there is one last crucial thing to consider, will the new spacer be hub centric? What this means is will the new wheel spacers have an extended bore to carry the original wheel from the center of the hub, like factory. Only hub centric wheel spacers can do this.
Many wheel spacers are not hub centric, meaning they do not spigot onto the wheel at all, leaving all the weight to be carried by the wheel studs or bolts, this is also a big no-no and exactly why many people complain wheel spacers can cause vibrations.
Simply put, if a wheel spacer is made from forged billet, precisely CNC machined to the correct bore and PCD and hub centric, it will not vibrate.
3. Size Matters
Wheel spacers are made in all different sizes, thicknesses and formats; slide-on, bolt-on, hub adapter, with pressed in studs, etc. from as thin as 2mm all the way up to and even beyond 35mm. When choosing the correct size wheel spacers for your vehicle it is crucial to understand a few things first.
Say you've just purchased a set of Rotiform wheels for your beloved Audi RS3 8V in Nardo Grey, you unbox them and slide the wheels onto the hub, thinking everything is going to be perfect. But to your dismay the new wheel actually just touches the brake caliper. You contact Rotiform and they say that’s the only fitment for your vehicle. You love the wheels and you love your big brakes, what do you do?
The answer is wheel spacers, sliding a 3mm PlusTrack wheel spacers onto the hub solves this problem and still allows your OE hub bore to protrude through the spacer and carry the wheel.
However, say you fitted a BBK (Big Brake Kit) to your VW Golf MK7 R but still want to run the factory Cadiz wheels and they don’t sit flush with the fender then a 3mm spacer won’t cut it. In this instance, the right size spacer is crucial. Each vehicle has a different size and height hub bore, the height and diameter of the hub bore can even vary front to rear which means there is a maximum slip on and a minimum hub centric spacer required to ensure correct, vibration free fitment and hub engagement. That’s where a pre-assembled Flush Fit Kit makes things much easier.
4. Nuts & Bolts
So you have the perfect spacer, but what about the bolts? Many wheel spacer kits on the market don’t even include bolts, some people buy the spacers and attempt to fit them using the vehicles original bolts, this is the biggest no-no. The bolts hold the wheels on and must retain the same amount of thread engagement or turns the bolt has into the hub from the factory.
A quality wheel spacer kit will include the precise length extended bolts required to ensure correct and safe fitment. The hardware should also meet or exceed manufacturers tensile strengths and standards, most quality wheel spacers will have 10.9 or higher strength bolts with zinc coatings to provide corrosion resistance to OE standards.
5. Fitment
So you’ve got the right spacers, in the right 6061-T6 or 7075-T6 material, they are hub centric and include extended bolts. But are they the right thickness for your vehicle, ride height, wheels and tyres?
The correct thickness wheel spacer will determine the wheel & tyre fitment in relation to the fender, too small will leave an ugly gap and too big may cause tyre rubbing or even worse wheel poke. Measurements can be made between the rim/tyre edge and the fender edge to determine the correct size wheel spacer required, sometimes this can take more than one attempt to get things perfect. Or a pre-assembled Flush Fit Kit can take the guess work out of things, leaving you with perfect fitment while retaining the OEM wheels that came with your vehicle.

Wheel Spacers & Bolts Strength Tested to ensure Quality
LIFETIME Structural Warranty
Included with our PlusTrack Wheel Spacer Kits are a full set of extended lug bolts. All wheel fasteners are hardened and tempered to strength class 10.9 or 10 according to DIN/ISO standard 898 and meet the statutory requirements of all countries - including the US & Australia.
Note: Wheel spacers that measure 2mm to 8mm may not allow hubs to protrude enough to keep wheels hub-centric. Please, before ordering, measure to ensure that you will have enough hub extending past the spacer to make contact with the center of the wheel. Adhering to this step will ensure a vibration free ride in your vehicle.

I feel like we say this too often but yet another example of "Less is More"...
The FLOW Designs Aus aero kit allowed us to compliment the factory lines and bumpers of the MK7.5 R will still giving it a OEM+ look, and thats what I love about the FLOW stuff, it never looks too much or out of place.
We fitted the complete FLOW Designs Aero kit which consists of a Front Splitter with reinforcement brace that actually bolts to the chassis! (Race Car Shit), Side Splitters and 3-Piece Rear Valance Kit, FLOW Designs aero kits can even be painted gloss to match the factory trims too.
We also added an OSIR Carbon Telson Wing to finish things off nicely.
The Golf R was then treated to a set of H&R Springs to bring the MK7.5 down a little closer to the tarmac.
Overall the Golf has a unique look but I think could also still be mistaken for some type of OEM 'Special Edition' variant, which a lot of our clients feel is a pretty cool place to be.
You can grab all these parts and many more right here on our store.

And this M3 says exactly that.
Our good client and loyal customer loves his cars low, loud and fast... And we think that's the perfect mix!
The first thing you notice and probably think is "That would ride like absolute S%$T!" But sadly, you are dead wrong... BMW F80 M3 Competition has been treated to a set of Gepfeffert by KW Suspensions V3 Coilovers. Gepfeffert make ultra-deep suspension that go lower than the 35mm (ish) that KW typically make, Gepfeffert also use the race springs found in higher spec KW Clubsports. So yes boys and girls (Haters), they ride EXACTLY the same as normal KW's. So sit down, shut up and enjoy the view.
We also opted for EDC Deletes instead of a KW DDC Plug'n'Play style setting, This enable a truly tuneable suspension system, for those looking to get a little more in depth with their suspension settings rather than the simple button modes that come factory in the BMW. This suspension is as capable of track days and performance work as any other KW V3 system, it just goes lower.
We then did the owners signature #allblackeverything treatment to the M3, this includes literally everything going gloss black, giving it a more stealth look. Fitted a set of custom 20" BC Forged HCA163 Wheels measuring 20x10 up front and a massive 20x11.5 rear and wrapped them in Michelin Pilot Sport Super Sports.
Next was performance, if you look closely you will see the air filters inside the front grill, with MODE Air+ Performance Intake System, MODE Chargepipe Kit, MODE x BM3 bootmod3 tuning and MODE Design Downpipes to give it all the power it needs on the street!

I think in a way this project was a little bit like that saying... "If you can't have the best of what you want, make the best of what you have got".
I will tell you why... See the thing is, we really, really love V8's. The new F8X M3/4 platform is great but it just isn't a V8! I mean we could have ordered a brand new M4 with M-Individual Nardo grey paint but that's not as fun for us, we wanted to create something truly unique.
MODE presents to you the only Nardo Grey BMW E92 M3 to full OEM spec colour change to Audi's 'LY7C' Nardo Grey in Australia! The BMW was given a full inside and out, total paint change from Space Grey Metallic to Nardo Grey.
The E92 has also been treated to a number of 'MODE' goodies which really complete that somewhat OEM++ look we were going for.
The front splitter was sourced from a BMW E92 M3 GTS (You know that special edition orange M3 with the roll cage)
That perfect raked BMW stance is thanks to KW Suspension allowing the M3 to sit just right on the 20" Rotiform KPS Wheels measuring 9.5 in the front and 11.0 in the rear fitted with 255 front and massive 305 wide rear Nitto Invo Tyres.
On the rear a BMW Performance trunk lip in carbon and Vorsteiner Carbon Diffuser completes the look, along with Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust and optional ceramic coated Matte Black Tips.
The front kidney grilles and side vents were treated to the gloss black BMW Performance items and the bonnet vents were painted gloss black too.

Everyone likes being first, right?
We got our hands on this AMG C63s Edition 1 Sedan before we had even seen another one on the street and felt the need to be first with a few things. We call this masterpiece the "MODE-SIX3S".
The latest offering from the AMG stables of Germany is this Edition 1 C63S, an absolutely gorgeous car in standard from with it's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 375kW and 700Nm of torque it will take you from a stand still to 100kmh in just 4.0 seconds! But, if you enjoy standards cars then we advise you to close this window now...
Ok, for those still reading here's the good stuff! MODE Design Decatted Catless Downpipes and Custom ECU and TCU Tuning of the AMG 4.0L Turbo 8 upped the power to 440kw and an epic 830Nm of Torque!
A set of the latest Simmons FR-C 20" Wheels were custom painted gloss black to match the Merc's theme then wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Super Sport Tyres to assist with traction.
Gepfeffert V3 by KW Suspension with Hydraulic Lift System (HLS) was fitted front and rear to achieve race car performance with hard park stance. The handling and performance is truly incredible in the driving position and the looks and neck snaps in the slammed position is pretty awesome too!
The Edition 1 had all the red decals removed and the Grille, Badges, Wheels, etc. were all blacked out. We then fitted Black Edition Exhaust Tips to complete the look.

Yep, you read it right... We Built a Jeep! And it's Bad F$%#*NG Ass!
As Summer 2016 approached we decided it was the perfect time to build a vehicle that has been on the cards for a very long time now. With annual visits to USA, particularly in Southern California, Texas and Nevada for the SEMA convention in Vegas lifted trucks and massive Jeeps are everywhere! But, over here in Australia that's a completely different story and the desire to build one of these monster Jeep Wranglers to show the Aussies was continuing to grow on us...
The MODE "Nightcrawler" as we chose to name it was built from the ground up in only 10 business days, completely stripped down to a bare shell, painted and re assembled into the beast you see here. The idea of the Night Crawler was to create an urban assault vehicle that is also extremely capable off road, an idea that we really nailed!
The Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited features an array of aftermarket parts but we think the most obvious and impressive modification is the 22x12 -44 Offset FUEL Nutz Wheels wrapped in 37x13.5R22 Gladiator X-Comp Mud Terrain Tyres. To make fitment of such enormous wheels possible a custom "MODE-Spec" lift kit was installed. Synergy 6.25" Front and 4.5" Rear Lift kit with FOX remote res shocks, FOX Steering Damper, Synergy and Teraflex geometry correction parts where installed to get things sitting just right.
Poison Spyder Brawler Bars, Bash Plates, Bushwacker Flares, Rubicon 10th Anniversary Vented Hood, Mopar Fuel Door, Angry Grille, Spare Tyre Delete Plate, Mirrors, Door Handles, Roof, Hinges and more were all smoothed out and painted or powder coated gloss black to keep the clean theme going on.
The Jeep was then fitted with all new lighting front to rear, including Head Lights, Fog Lights, Markers, 52" LED Light Bar, Hidden Rear Flood Lights and more. Mopar Interior goodies and a complete replacement stereo for the inside with subwoofer mounted in OE location.
Onto the more serious stuff, Swaybar Disconnects and Dana 44 Diffs were installed and geared to suit the 37's along with 32-Spline Chromoly axles and E-Lockers for those moments when even a Jeep like this needs some extra traction.
To wrap it up, this Jeep is no 'Show Pony', as with all our builds they may look pretty but they are also built to be capable and perform. After some testing, the Night Crawler has easily (We mean very, very easily) out performed every single domestic offered 4x4 ute in Australia without flicking the diff locks on! Yes, that includes the ever popular Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Holden Colorado, Isuzu D-Max, etc. in exceptionally modified form with lockers, lift kits, body lifts, 33's and 35's etc. None of them could keep up with the Jeep and yes, we wheel it on the 22x12's as pictured!
As for Nissan Patrols on 35's and up, they seem to be able to keep up with the Jeep on some terrain, but the Jeeps approach angle and ground clearance is really quite exceptional!

Bags packed, trucks loaded, off to Melbourne we go!
This year, for MotorEx 2016 we decided to wrap our MODE-7 R in a fully custom designed Armytrix Livery. Drafted and conceptualised by Mode Auto Concepts Owner, Ty Isaak then remastered and perfected by V8 Supercars livery expert Nick Moss Design!
The wild, technical design was set to make a very bold statement, much like the cars we see at SEMA in the USA with a bit of inspiration from Ken Block and his Gymkhana cars. Special thanks to Brisbane's finest wrap shop EXCLUSIVE Group for the absolutely perfect application of the wrap on the Golf R.
But why stop at just one car? We decided to commission an Audi R8, to join the team.
The Audi R8 was wrapped, then fitted with a full Titanium Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust KW Suspension V3 Coilovers, an APR Tune, Semi Slicks and a few other goodies to complete the package.
The response from the two cars was amazing, not only at MotorEx but also driving the streets of Melbourne before and after the event!
Two epic cars, thousands of spectators and a lot of loud revving kept the crowds happy!
The entire Melbourne trip was a huge success, we met some great people and got plenty of thumbs up and smiles as usual!
MotorEx attracts a very mixed audience, from bikes, drag cars, hot rods, classics, hot imports, movie cars and many more! Enjoy the collection of images from MotorEx below.

Nico from Sydney is pretty well known for his Super-Cars and Super-Punny numberplates.
"DAMMNN" "BATM4N" was recently published in The Daily Telegraph on Nico's Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale and Lamborghini LP640.
We worked with Nico to design and engineer a custom, one of a kind set of 21 inch forged wheels to his exact specification, featuring a matte black center disc with floating spoke, gloss black outer and a custom bronze inner barrel to match the Maserati's massive carbon ceramic brakes.
The MC Stradale was then sent to Sydney's Heasman Steering & Suspension to be dialed in with a custom adjustable suspension system and further modification.
The GT MC Stradale, slammed on 21" wheels is a real eye catcher, now wearing the BATM4N plates it really does looks the part!

MODE is about daring to be different, building a car that defines you and your individual style. Angus from Brisbane's E92 BMW 335i is just that!
Before any Mode build begins we like to really work out what the client wants out of their car, what their personal taste and style is and how we can tie in what is usually multiple desires or purposes for the one vehicle.
Angus, owner of this what once was standard 335i wanted something that looked like it was built in California; Bagged, stanced, boosted with lots of carbon, and he told us it must have 3-piece custom wheels with polished outer lips. The result is a masterpiece, designed by our client's ideas and then remastered and executed by us, a true Mode collaboration.
The custom, one of a kind Forge wheels measure 19x9.5 in the front and a whopping 19x11 in the rear! Inspired by motorsport wheels from Europe, with a bit of a Californian flare, finished in brushed Rose' Gold with polished outers.
The E92 was given a 1M inspired facelift with hand laid carbon fibre inlays, a custom 1M carbon fibre front lip, blacked out headlights, a hand crafted 1M inspired rear bumper complete with functional vents, carbon side splitters, carbon rear splitters and a carbon CSL style trunk, plus many other small touches to complete the look.
The ridiculously low ride height is taken care of by a complete AirREX Air Suspension system, comprising of a digital wireless controller, high performance coilover type air suspension struts and a hidden air management system in the trunk. Handling is exceptional and will surprise anyone that judges it by it's 'hard park' stance.
To conclude, this 335 will beat a modified E92 M3 in a race and is one of a kind. Just as Angus had planned.

For 2016 we decided to build something a little different, well.. for us that is anyway.
A VW Golf isn't exactly the typical "Mode" demo car but the new MK7 platform is just so much more impressive than what many non-VW enthusiasts out there may think. With a 0-100km/h time of just 5.0 seconds in standard form, it's almost on par with an Audi RS4 Avant, so it's not too bad out of the box. But, the Golf R has a turbo attached to it, a dual-clutch gearbox and a few hundred kilos less fat than the RS4. The unlock-able potential of this car is just mind blowing! Free up some restrictions, add some boost and we have got this little hatchback producing 380hp, and the 0-100km/h time down to a staggering 3.4 seconds!
Yes, you read that right, 3.4 seconds, that's on par with a brand new Audi R8 V10 and a few hundredths of a second faster than a Lamborghini Gallardo! Can you say "Value for money?"

"Here's the keys!" said Dylan, owner of this 10.0 second GT-R, as he handed them to me with a huge smile on his face...
There's many perks to owning and running a company like this, one of which is the fact that I have driven almost every euro & exotic supercar on the market today. Not just standard cars, from mild to totally modified. My clients want me to experience what we have created together. Something special, something unique, something FAST!
Dylan's GT-R is known for just that, an absolute weapon on the street, armed with a full Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust System and a host of other mods to get it down to an impressive 10.0 second 1/4 mile, This thing literally sounds and goes like a jet!
"Don't forget to try launch control" were Dylan's words as D2 Productions and I left the carpark in this absolutely mental streetcar to go out and do some filming for the night.
I must say, filming a car this fast on the street has it's challenges; #1 Keeping up with it in any other car, #2 Keeping my drivers license, #3 Capturing flames without disturbing the peace.
The end result was not nearly what we had planned for, but we still had a great night, Dylan kept on encouraging us to use launch control, anti-lag and every other feature which put a massive smile on all our faces.
This has to be the fastest R35 I have ever driven!

4:23am - July 22, 2015: MODE-M3 loaded onto the car trailer in preparation for it's long journey down south, along the famous Australian eastern coastline to Sydney for Motorex 2015.
For this event we went for an understated look, with the Widebody M3 being the showcase. The Liberty Walk widebody, slammed ride height thanks to AirREX Suspension, Armytrix livery and gorgeous 1 of a kind, brushed translucent shocker yellow Forge wheels really got the crowds attention on the first day.
That night, the M3 was shifted to display the opposite side of the car along with the AirREX Suspension livery and translucent candy red wheels, tricking show goers into thinking it was a second car!
Our friends from Queen St. Customs brought out their own Liberty Walk creation which was completed literally the night before in true Queen St. fashion, leaving the entire build a surprise for all. This car was actually the old green LB GT-R in which they did a fantastic job of recreating a totally new look.
We gave out over 500 Armytrix & AirREX stickers over the weekend, along with some other cool free merchandise to keep the kids happy. Plenty of questions about the MODE-M3 were asked, like... "How do you drive it that low", "Where do you race it", "How much do those wheels cost" and many others. Everyone wanted to hear the Armytrix exhaust roar but unfortunately we were not able to start the car during the exhibition.
The reactions from spectators that did the full walk around when they discovered the other side and colour wheels was priceless, many discussions were had on which colour/side they prefer and why.
Despite being so busy answering everyone's questions my brother and I had a few chances to take a walk around the main hall and appreciate some incredible builds like this absolutely mental Holden Torana KIL308.
And this Twin Turbo LSX V8 Powered Nissan S15 Silvia on custom 20" & 24" Forge Wheels.
Even outside there were some very impressive cars, like this Porsche 911 from Autohaus.
We are definitely Porsche 911 fans over here at the MODE H.Q.
One of our MODE Dealers, GU Auto Concepts brought out their super clean R35 GT-R all the way from South Australia! Sporting a full AirREX Suspension kit and Liberty Walk Widebody.
Even out in the carpark was a MODE customers Toyota 86 running the full AirREX Suspension system.
The MODE-M3 was transported over 2,000km in less than 7 days, up and down the East Coast to show the nation what MODE is all about. The reactions on and off the trailer, throughout Sydney and at every service station, car park, Krispy Kremes and everywhere in between were both incredible and unforgettable.
Special thanks to Queen St. Customs for their hospitality over the weekend.
